Madison Square Garden (New York City, USA)

Despite what the name would suggest this world famous multipurpose arena is anything but square, its markedly circular shape helps it to stand out amongst the vast number of high rise buildings that surround it in the Manhattan area of the city.

Opened on 11th Feb 1968 the arena is considered to be the oldest and most visited in the New York area and is one of the National Hockey League and National Basketball Association’s oldest venues, and is used to host other sporting events including boxing and gymnastics. The venue doesn’t just cater for sports and instead it boasts itself as one of the busiest music arenas in the world, and has hosted performances from John Lennon, Elvis Presley, The Police, Michael Jackson, and Elton John.

In 2011 Madison Square Garden underwent a $1 billion renovation which saw the installation of new interactive kiosks, broadcaster studios, LED lighting system, locker rooms, dining facilities and greater seating capacity.
